Background
Sightsavers is an international NGO working in over 30 countries in Africa and Asia to eliminate avoidable blindness and promote the inclusion of people living with disabilities so that they can enjoy equal rights and lives free from stigma and discrimination.
Sightsavers conducts research to support the delivery of its programmes as described in its research strategy https://www.sightsavers.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/Sightsavers_Research_Strategy.pdf. Sightsavers was recently awarded Independent Research Organisation (IRO) status from the UK Research Councils attesting to the quality and scope of its research. We conduct both primary and secondary research using both qualitative and quantitative methodologies. Sightsavers’ Research team require short-term support to aid the statistical analysis and report writing of an endline survey.
Purpose of role
The main purpose of this role is to support the Research team to analyse a clean multi-part quantitative dataset (comprising 6: 3 at the individual level and three at the cluster level), and to draft the initial report. The duties will include but are not limited to:
· Link datasets using unique identifiers (1 day);
· Conduct descriptive analyses (4 days);
· Conduct univariate and multivariate analyses according to study protocol (5 days);
· Develop results tables (4 days);
· Develop first draft of report using results and study protocol (6 days).
The holder will work closely with the Research team to analyse the data as required by the study protocol using well-annotated Stata do-files (some of which are already written). They will develop the tables in an accurate and user-friendly manner appropriate for inclusion in the main study report and using both the results and the study protocol will write a first draft of a report of the study.

Qualifications and required skills
· A master’s degree in medical statistics, epidemiology, or equivalent.
· Knowledge of survey study designs including cluster sampling methods.
· Strong statistical data analysis skills and the ability to conduct descriptive, uni- and multi-variate analyses.
· Strong Stata skills.
· Excellent written communication skills and the ability to communicate statistical findings in both technical and lay language.
Duration of the assignment
We anticipate the assignment will require up to a maximum of 20 days, however this is subject to change following discussion with the successful candidate.
