Office Location: ESPEN Regional Office, Brazzaville Congo

Contract type: Consultancy

Consultancy Duration: 6 Months

Daily Rate: Daily rate to be agreed depending on the skills and experience of the successful candidate

The Expanded Special Project for Elimination of Neglected Tropical Diseases (ESPEN) serves as the technical arm of the WHO/AFRO Neglected Tropical Diseases Programme and addresses all the five Neglected Tropical Diseases responsive to Preventive Chemotherapy (PC-NTDs), namely Lymphatic Filariasis (LF), Onchocerciasis (Oncho), Schistosomiasis (SCH), Soil-transmitted Helminthiasis (STH) and Trachoma (TRA). It provides technical support on PC-NTDs to endemic countries, which will be coordinated to ensure achievement of PC-NTD goals and targets at country level in accordance with the Regional Strategic Plan for NTDs, 2014-2020.

Integrated NTD data management is a core component of the Regional strategy to control NTDs in the African Region. The management of NTD data in the region is currently focused on the urgent need to integrate all the NTD data into a single repository accessible online by Ministries of Health, AFRO, WHO headquarters NTD staff and stakeholders.

Sightsavers are looking for a senior level Consultant to be a single point of contact for all ESPEN Collect supported surveys and who is responsible for working with global partners and national programs to translate the value of the ESPEN NTD Portal and programmatic rational for transparency of data through ESPEN Collect.

The ideal applicant will have proven experience in management of technology projects and staff, good knowledge of NTD data and be expert level working with GIS software such as ArGIS and QGIS. Excellent knowledge of English language is essential and working knowledge of French and another UN language would be highly advantageous.

Closing date: 11 August 2019 Target Start Date: The target start date is 26 August 2019 and it is anticipated that the project will last for a minimum of 6 months.
