Research Coordinator – Consultancy

Office location: Senegal

Consultancy length – 6 months

Sightsavers Senegal is working with partners to deliver a number of projects throughout the country with the aims of increasing the participation of men and women with disabilities in political life and increase the access of boys and girls with disabilities to education and reducing visual impairment and avoidable blindness.

As the Research Coordinator Consultant you will provide day to day coordination and active engagement with research staff, the principal investigator and senior staff in Sengeal to ensure high quality data collection on Sightsavers research studies in Senegal.

You will be responsible for coordinating 3 research studies: Political participation in West Africa, Community based participatory research/investigating disability inclusion in primary education in West and Central Africa, and RAAB, which includes working closely with data collectors and participants in communities to ensure high quality data is collected and adhere to study SOPs.

Further duties include;

· Working in conjunction with study staff and investigators, coordinate data collection for the surveys (Political participation, gender study and RAAB) and ensure data collection is of high quality and adherence to study protocol and timelines.

· Ensure that surveys SOPs are followed during study implementation.

· Maintain regular linkage, appropriate communication channels and feedback to the research team and the research advisor.

· Maintain regular, and appropriate communication with the Global technical lead in Senegal and those out of Senegal.

· Ensure timely production and submission of relevant activity to Sightsavers research team and the research advisor.

· Work closely and collaborate with partners to strengthen the organization’s influence, profile, advocacy and partnerships.

The successful Consultant will possess a degree (or equivalent) in public health, epidemiology or other relevant field, have experience in qualitative and quantitative research methods and a background in the implementation of research surveys. Knowledge and previous experience in qualitative data collection (especially CBPR) in required, as is prior supervision of data collectors, having a good understanding of quantitative and qualitative data collection and management systems and good computer skills. Excellent verbal and written skills in French and English are required for this role.
