Sightsavers is looking for a Communications Officer – Inclusive Futures – a new role within our expanding Communications team to help us communicate the lifechanging work we’re doing in disability inclusion. Our flagship programmes are directly impacting the lives of people with disabilities in education, healthcare and work, as well as tackling stigma and discrimination, in six countries across Africa and Asia.
We are looking for a Communications Officer to help us build our content and communications on our growing projects, and support with the coordination of our numerous partners, to create strategic and impactful communications which make the world more inclusive. You will join at an exciting time for communications in Sightsavers, as our new Campaigns and Communications directorate works on innovative ways to meet our strategic objectives and key audiences. A major part of this role will be to develop communications, stories and content to meet the Inclusive Futures programme’s communications objectives. Key duties will include:
- Developing communications and project manage the gathering of content from the Inclusive Futures’ programmes
- Gathering stories from our partners about our work, including working with partners to identify opportunities, conducting interviews, writing up stories, planning and gathering photography from projects, and working with partners to support programme staff to gather content
- Working with the Communications Manager and Content and Stories Team to develop content for key moments
- Managing submitted content
- Providing case studies
- Supporting with the maintenance of the website
- Gathering insights and analytics about communications activities
- Supporting the Inclusive Futures consortium
- Stakeholder Management
About you
This is an ideal opportunity to build your experience and career in communications. To succeed in this role, you will need:
- Experience of working in a communications role or department
- A degree, significant related work experience or a strong demonstrable commitment to communications
- Experience of identifying communications opportunities
- Experience of gathering and developing content and stories
- The ability to write clear, compelling and engaging copy for a range of channels and audiences
- Good networking and relationship building skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft products and web application software
- An understanding of and commitment to equality of opportunity for people with disabilities
