Project Officer – Education Systems Analysis

Contract: 12-month fixed term contract

About the role

This position provides support and administration to the Sightsavers Education inclusive PASEC (Education Systems Analysis Program) project in coordinating and implementing education activities, including programs that align with the goals and mission of the organisation.

Principal accountabilities:

1. Working with Partners: 40%

  • Manage the relationship with the partner CONFEMEN and others.
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement program activities.
  • Disseminate information about Sightsavers and its work to partners.
  • Promote shared learning and collaboration between partners by facilitating partner networks and meetings.

2. Financial & Resource Management: 10%

  • Support the preparation of budgets.
  • Ensure that partners submit timely financial returns.
  • Ensure that partners manage and utilize project assets as per Sightsavers’ policy.

Programme delivery: 40%

  • Supporting inclusive education programme to manage all aspects of the project cycle including planning, implementation, and monitoring & evaluation.
  • Working with programme officer to identify needs for technical support.
  • Ensure that all project documentation and reports are made available in a timely and accessible way.
  • Implementation of the inclusive education projects activities
  • Collection of quarterly data and supporting documents
  • Follow-up and monitoring
  • Setting up and minuting key meetings.
  • General administrative support including supporting the development of learning materials, presentations and activity reports.
  • Event management and workshops with both internal and external audiences.
  • Assist in the documentation of case studies
  • Support the team in the logistics for activity preparation and travels.
  • Regularly travel to project’s sites in the different regions

4. Information & Communication Management: 10%

  • Be proactive in providing good quality information on case studies, interesting news stories etc relating to inclusive education and social inclusion projects.
  • Participate in all PR activities within the Country.
  • Attend to visitors to and from the projects and partners.

Jobholder Requirement

Essential:

  • University degree (BAC + 3 or higher) in the field of education.
  • Relevant work experience in education or a related field.
  • Experience in assessment, evaluation, tests in education (e.g. PASEC, EGRA, ICAN, ACER, PISA…) conducted in West and Central Africa.
  • Experience in designing, managing and supporting education programs for children with disabilities and programs that facilitate the inclusion of marginalized groups.
  • Experience in participatory development, including participatory monitoring and evaluation
  • Experience working with children with disabilities in classrooms and / or at homes and communities.
  • Knowledge of local education systems, laws, practices and contexts, including the education of children with disabilities.
  • Knowledge of Braille and other alternative and complementary means of communication for children with disabilities is an advantage.
