Sightsavers Bangladesh country office has an exciting vacancy for a Programme Manager to join our team based in Dhaka. You will join our team and be instrumental in designing, managing and leading various programmes on Social Inclusion, education and Health.
Reporting to the Country Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for overall planning, organizing, implementation, monitoring and completion of country office projects ensuring consistency with Sightsavers global strategy & quality standards, commitments & goals. The Programme Manager will also be responsible for providing effective leadership for the programme team, writing project report, project proposal and work with external evaluation team. Conduct regular reviews of the progress and performance of programmes under delivery to identify problems and delays, and work with partners to develop effective solutions (working with EME, advocacy and strategy and partnership colleagues and escalating to more senior colleagues for support and intervention, where required. Identify opportunities and options for improving processes, procedures and programme management approaches within (and beyond) the team, to support increased organisational efficiency and effectiveness. Conduct rigorous research and evaluation of potential partners, using agreed corporate protocols and techniques, to assess their suitability and credentials for collaborating on Sightsavers initiatives.
The ideal candidate will possess a degree in a relevant field (Social Sciences, Development Studies, Disability and Community Development/ Public Health) and have extensive experience in project management. A proven career in managing large budgets and can demonstrate a record of accomplishment in developing and managing development programmes is essential. Demonstrable experience in analysis and due diligence, policy, planning and programme delivery, including field experience, all within the development sector. Knowledge of the evidence bases pertaining to programme design and implementation and belief in the importance of evidence-based decision making. Ability to speak and write articulately in English about programmes with a variety of audiences. Strong working knowledge of impact measurement and programme monitoring and evaluation. Ability to analyse an organisation’s strength of management, vision and adaptive capacity. A self-starter, with resilience, pace, and interpersonal flexibility. An innovative thinker with a pragmatic and solution oriented mindset . Ability to work in teams.. Willingness to travel to the field regularly.
Recognises and understands differences in organisational culture, approach and perspective, Engages effectively with partners, both listening and sharing knowledge, and insights. Negotiates, influences and motivates partners towards delivering against shared goals. Extensive experience in managing large and complex projects is required as is experience in advocacy, monitoring & evaluation. You will need to be a strategic thinker, who possesses strong critical thinking, problem solving, analytical and presentation skills with the ability to influence high-level ministry officials.
